Growing up with little-to-no access to mental health resources prior to studying, it is my purpose to empower communities of color to improve their emotional + social well being. By making this information accessible the negative taboos often associated with mental health issues will dissipate. Contributing to inclusive scholarly research – Aimee L. Smith is a potent mental health advocate completing her last year as a McNair Scholar while studying and writing about psychology.
Her current research interests are – Probing at the 4th wave of Emotional resilience – The psychological and emotional barriers affecting the welfare of children growing up with environmental risks i.e. violent crime, and other adversities and vulnerabilities.
